Liverpool Street Station was originally built in 1874, but was subject to extensive redevelopment in the 1980s.

The current station blends Victorian architecture with modern and contemporary features, although much of the modern build has been constructed in the Victorian style. The brickwork is largely suffolk brick, with bath stone dressing.

Features within the station include a departure board, a large concourse, clock towers, a balcony level with retail, corridors, staircases and escalators, a taxi rank, war memorials and Victorian ironwork.
