Test track (RIDC)

Our rail innovation and development centre (RIDC) offers over ten miles of operational track, which can be hired exclusively for filming.

Away from the network and from most freight traffic, the centres remove the logistical difficulties and high costs associated with controlling track.  The facilities include several disused platforms, tracks, tunnels and sidings, all in a rural environment.  Unlike heritage railways, the track is not limited to 30mph running, so it can lend itself to fast-paced action.

Although the platforms no longer have station buildings, set builds are possible, and as the sites do not form part of any passenger route they can be fully controllable.

For an additional cost, the centre managers can arrange locomotive hire, driver hire, staffing for safe systems of work, and technical experts.

Subject to a minimum rental period.  Due to lead-in time and safety requirements, only productions in band C should apply.
