Fees

Unless you are filming or taking pictures for news or current affairs purposes, we charge for all filming and photography on Network Rail property, including stations.

Charges are based on applications being submitted with 5 or more full working days prior to the shoot. Other considerations include the impact of the filming upon the location, its users, and its daily operation. The information below provides a guideline only and final fees may be higher or lower than those listed. Please note, VAT is charged on top of the advertised fees.

Late applications and risk assessment changes

If you are submitting an application with less than 5 full working days notice, a late notice premium of £500+VAT will be added to your relevant fee. Any changes made to approved applications and risk assessments with less than 5 working days before the shoot day will incur a £350+VAT administration fee.   

It is possible to film on off peak services, hire carriages and charter trains with South West Trains.

For documentary filming on board a South West Trains service, there is a fee of £350+VAT for every 2 hours filming.

Fees for other types of production will vary, depending upon impact and requirements.

Proof of student status must be produced at the time of application. Student rates are non-negotiable and non-refundable.

Staff charges may be incurred in order to plan, supervise or assist with your shoot, or to carry out pre-feasibility studies. Their time will be charged at the following rates in addition to any location fee. These staff costs are a standard Network Rail rate and are non-negotiable.

Over-runningProductions which over run will be charged for a second period equivalent to the original, in addition to any staff costs incurred.

Cancellation feesIn the event that the filming or photography is cancelled with more than two working days written notice a cancellation fee will be charged of 50% of the location fee. In the event that the filming or photography is cancelled with two working days written notice or less the Licensee will be charged 100% of the location fee. All cancellation fees are exclusive of staff costs which will be added to the final fee.

St Pancras International, Ebbsfleet International, and Stratford International stations are owned by HS1 Limited. Network Rail manages commercial filming and photography on behalf of HS1 Limited.

Student filmmakers will receive a 50% discount on standard filming charges except on the documentary / drama-doc / short film rate.

A letter must be provided to confirm student status.

Additional staff may be needed to supervise or assist with your shoot. Their time will be charged at the following rates in addition to any location fee.
These staff costs are a standard rate and are non-negotiable.

Cancellation Fee

All cancellations must be made in writing to the Commercial Filming Manager. Network Rail office hours are 0900 to 1700 Monday to Friday.

The cancellations will be subject to a cancellation fee of 50% of the location fee.

If a cancellation is received with two days or less then the full location fee will be chargeable.

All cancellation fees are exclusive of staff costs which will be added to the final fee.
